 Artist Directory for Jackson CountyOverview: Catch the Spirit of Appalachia, along with the Jackson County Arts Council and the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, have teamed together to produce a much needed resource for the community of Jackson County: 1) to gather together a detailed, comprehensive guide to identify our local artisans; 2) to provide opportunities of employment for local artisans; 3) to provide entertainment choices for the community from within the county. Catch the Spirit of Appalachia, Inc., a non profit arts & heritage organization seeks opportunities for cultural and arts programs and services that impact by helping to provide a sense of community and place. With the Artist Directory and online Artist Registry for Jackson County, CSA wishes to bring art and cultural programs to the neighborhood level by stimulating neighborhood involvement and pride, and to increase multi-cultural outreach. CSA hopes to increase the number of community partners presenting artist residencies, workshops, mural projects, performances and exhibitions throughout the county. CSA wishes to encourage local community partners to use as many of our local artisans as possible in our local area. CSA Goals: To compile the most complete Artist Directory possible covering Jackson County. To establish a Jackson County “Artist Registry” online at website: www.spiritofappalachia.org. To update and maintain the online Artist Registry as an ongoing service to the artists. To print the Artist Directory so that it is readily available throughout the region. There will be no charge to register and no charge for the service. There will be no charge for the artist to register, and the printed directory will be provided free as a service to the community. The JC Arts Council will consider a grant to update and reprint the booklet every two years .
