September 29 Mountain Heritage Day—WCU in Cullowhee, NC SPECIAL SHOWCASE: Heritage Alive! Mountain Youth Talent Best of Show Winners on WCU Heritage Stage
October 6 Colorfest! Art & Music of Appalachia—Downtown Dillsboro, NC—Local Visual Artists Demonstrate in Street Fair 10am-4pm Even before this exciting fine art day, the chosen fine artists have their artwork on display in the windows of shops in Dillsboro beginning September 6 after a ColorFest artists reception. This store display intensifies the interest in the artists before the festival day and their artwork is available for sale throughout the month of September until October 6. Other ColoFest events will include the "Young Artists of ColorFest" creative and mural painting workshops and other artists demonstrations. The Young Artists of ColorFest workshops will encourage youth ages 6- 18 years to participate.
November CSA Writers Performance—Jackson County Library, Main Street, Sylva, NC - Date not set as yet. 7pm Catch the Spirit of Appalachia’s writing program will open with stories, poetry and song in a fast-paced production, showcasing the creative talents of local & regional writers. Immediately following will be the booksigning and reception with refreshments.
